Byzantine Museum of Veria

The Byzantine Museum of Veria is housed in the Markos Mill, a restored industrial building on the edge of the protected Kyriotissa neighbourhood. It is an ideal stop if you want to “read” the medieval city before or after walking among Veria’s Byzantine churches.

The permanent exhibition presents portable icons, frescoes from churches and secular buildings, mosaic floors, manuscripts, pottery, miniature craftwork, coins, woodcarvings and architectural sculpture. The first floor opens with Byzantine culture through the example of Veria and its links with centres such as Constantinople and Thessaloniki.
