Holy Monastery of the Life-giving Spring «Panagiopoula» of Naoussa
About Holy Monastery of the Life-giving Spring «Panagiopoula» of Naoussa in Veria
At the entrance to Naoussa visitors find the Holy Monastery of the Life-giving Spring (Zoodochos Pigi), known as Panagiopoula. The Holy Metropolis of Veria, Naoussa and Kampania lists it among houses under reconstitution, reflecting ongoing renewal of buildings and community life.
The dedication to the Life-giving Spring—one of Orthodoxy’s best-loved Marian feasts (Friday of Bright Week)—makes the shrine especially meaningful in springtime. The affectionate local name Panagiopoula (“little Panagia”) signals how closely Naoussa’s faithful hold the site. It was among the Imathian monasteries restaffed in the revival of monasticism promoted since the mid-1990s.
Because reconstitution continues, opening arrangements can vary—ask locally or via the Metropolis before you go. Modest dress remains the rule. Pair a short stop here with other Naoussa shrines such as the Monastery of the Forerunner above the town.
