Vergina in half a day

Half a day at Vergina is the museum of the Royal Tombs of Aigai, then the palace hill and the theatre. They are one ancient city. The village name is Vergina.

Go in the morning and by car or taxi from Veria. The walk from the old town is not realistic. Mondays the tomb museum is closed, so move Aigai to Tuesday and keep Monday for the churches in town. Start at the museum. The theatre is a separate open ruin and is easy to miss if you only follow the museum exit.

In summer the palace hill is exposed. There is little shade between the museum and the theatre. This is a half day, not a stop on the way to eight churches.
